Senior all-night parties · Post-prom · Minnesota

Close-up magic that works on high school seniors.

Three hours of entertainment for senior all-night parties and post-prom, anywhere in Minnesota. It comes to them, table to table, so there is nothing to set up, nothing to schedule around and nothing for your committee to manage.

Real parties, real reactions

This is what it looks like at 11pm.

Filmed at a high school senior party. No stage, no microphone, nobody gathered up. He walks over and starts. You can tell it is working when the phones come out, because they start filming it for each other.

Why committees book it

You already know the hard part.

They arrive at ten, the food is gone by midnight, and there is a long stretch before the sun comes up where the energy drops. Inflatables, casino tables and a game truck all fill space, but they are stations. Somebody has to walk over and choose them.

Close-up magic is the opposite. Justin goes to them, so nobody has to be gathered up or told to sit down. It happens in their own hands, a foot away, and it is over before anyone decides they are too cool for it. Then it happens again at the next table, and by then the first group is following him around.

By the end he is the thing they are talking about, not the thing they walked past.

Frequently asked questions

What committees ask first.

Still deciding what fits? Send the basics and Justin will recommend the simplest option.

Will teenagers really watch this?

Yes, and it is the question every committee asks first. Close-up magic happens in their own hands from a foot away, so there is nothing to sit through and nothing to be too cool about. Most of the night he is surrounded by students who came back for a second look.

When in the night should we schedule it?

Early, while people are still arriving and moving around. It fills the stretch before the big activities get going and it gets the room talking to each other.

Do you need a stage, a microphone or a sound system?

None of it. He works on his feet and moves between groups, so there is nothing to set up and nothing that can fail.

How long are you there?

Three hours is the usual shape for an all-night party. Shorter and longer both work, and it is always worth asking.

Is it appropriate for a school event?

Yes. It is clean, there is no alcohol humor and nobody gets embarrassed. Volunteers come out of it looking good, which matters more with this age group than any other.

Can you work alongside the hypnotist and the casino tables?

Yes, and it usually goes better that way. Because he moves around instead of holding the whole room, he fills the gaps between the things you have already scheduled rather than competing with them.

From the people who booked him

Ask a committee that already did it.

Sandi and Larry ran the party at Prior Lake, where Justin worked the grad party for thirteen years running. Cassie was a senior at hers, which is the opinion that decides whether any of this works.

In the room

See more than a clip.

Two whole nights filmed end to end, and two tricks shot close enough that you see them the way the students do.

Where he performs

Booked across Minnesota and into Wisconsin.

Justin is based in Kenyon, an hour south of the Twin Cities, so southern Minnesota schools get a local performer rather than an act pricing the drive down from the metro.
